Contract electronics manufacturer, Axiom, is piloting a new programme of seminars for 2009 designed to encourage companies in the electronics industry to innovate in a bid to beat the recession. The first session, entitled ‘Innovate or Stagnate’, was held in conjunction with The Technology Partnership (TTP) and EBV Elektronik. It focussed on developing partnerships between designers and manufacturers to create innovative design and manufacturing solutions that reduce costs and shorten timescales. Topics included implementing business partnerships, real-life case studies, applying the principles of design for excellence and improving cost effectiveness through product design.
The seminars are aimed at all those operating in the electronics manufacturing industry, including those involved in the supply chain.
Operations director at Axiom Manufacturing Services, Dean Taylor, said: Its a tough market at the moment and businesses need to ensure their products are punching above their weight and that they are being produced at a cost effective and efficient rate. It makes sense to incorporate aspects such as manufacture, procurement and test into the design stages as this is where the majority of cost and time savings can be made.
