A new dual-handle control unit from Ultra Electronics uses a control layout similar to those used in video game controllers. The FMCU series (Freedom of Movement Control Unit) is designed for military applications, providing military personnel with the ability to control both manned and unmanned military vehicles and equipment. The non-contacting design offers an accurate and consistent signal to the operator over the full life span of the product which is up to 20,000,000 cycles. The removal of all moving parts except the stick itself increases linearity, reduces hysteresis and makes it immune to water, dirt, dust, lubricants, shock and vibration. These factors mean that it meets the performance requirements of the military market
