UK franchise tackles ITAR restrictions

A strategic partnership between C-MAC MicroTechnology and specialist component distributor, Castle Microwave, could help UK purchasers overcome issues associated with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Under the partnership, C-Mac’s UK-manufactured portfolio of microwave products will be available ex-stock through Castle Microwave. This enhanced access to European-produced components, modules and sub-assemblies could solve procurement issues caused by ITAR, which restricts the availability of US manufactured product to non-US companies. The partnership will help customers secure a reliable supply chain and obtain products which are no longer readily available to European companies.

Castle Microwave will supply C-Mac’s Ku Band PA and LNA modules, designed for use in the 12 to 18GHz frequency range. Customers will also benefit from C-Mac’s expertise in developing bespoke solutions as well as its experience in high reliability applications for the aerospace and defence, automotive and specialised industrial and communications markets. This is backed by its MIL-PRF-38534 Class H and Class K (space) qualification.

MD, Castle Microwave, Bernard Gaskin, said: Changes to ITAR have made securing products from the US increasingly difficult for our European customer base. We believe that alongside C-MAC, Castle Microwave will be able to address many of the procurement issues raised by ITAR and in some cases, provide bespoke solutions which address the customers requirements better than the original US component.
