Investment of over 700k has enabled component manufacturer, TT Electronics Welwyn Components, to improve its thin film production capability with increased capacity and the ability to fulfil bulk orders. TT Welwyn has purchased a range of thin film technology equipment, which will improve the quality of the resistors produced and enable Welwyn to extend its product offering by mass producing chip resistors in line with the latest methods. Utilising an integrated line of machinery to produce chip resistors will improve material flow by increasing the speed and scale of production. Automation will also increase Welwyns manufacturing capacity and improve quality by ensuring accuracy and repeatability. The investment will enable Welwyn fulfil bulk orders in shorter time frames and allow Welwyn engineers to manufacture more complex products.
Resistors business unit director at TT Welwyn, Barry Peters, commented: Our material scientists are constantly involved in researching and developing thin film technologies for a range of new applications and it is vital that they are supported with the right equipment. This investment will significantly enhance our production capabilities and allow us to continue to be competitive.
