Keeping buyers in the know

Sourcing the right electronics manufacturing service (EMS) provider is all about communication. Created as a showcase for GSPKs turnkey electronics assembly solutions and services, the companys new website reflects its approachability and innovation. It has been designed to offer clients, staff, suppliers and potential customers with a breakdown of the services and capabilities that GSPK Electronics provides. It also offers advice on current legislation affecting the industry, including the RoHS directive.

To help buyers tackle this tricky bit of legislation, GSPK has developed a RoHS calendar guide. This month-by-month manual offers advice to customers and suppliers throughout the lead-free supply chain. Having worked proactively towards the objectives of the directive, GSPK can now provide assistance through the conversion process as well as sharing ideas and expertise on best practise.

Head of engineering at GSPK, Dave Watson, said: We have already developed surface mount and conventional boards and have carried out trials through both processes. All our operators have been through initial RoHS training and have carried out practical soldering trials. In addition, a company wide presentation will be shown to all staff to help them understand the implications of the restriction on hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

The video should help to answer frequently asked questions on the substances that are restricted, the maximum concentrations which are allowed, any exemptions and how the directive will be enforced.
