Dassault Systemes extends PLM solution

Paris, France — Dassault Systemes (DS) has released the latest version of its V6 product lifecycle management (PLM) platform that supports businesses process in all industries, and delivers a new offering targeted at mid-market businesses and small teams within large organizations.

The V6R2010 release delivers 42 new V6 products including theV6 PLM Express for mid-market businesses. The latest version also includes direct modeling capabilities and realistic simulation solutions for non-experts.

With the V6R2010 release, mid-market businesses now have access to real-time seamless collaboration, online-enabled design-anywhere functionality, and a single, open scalable platform, in a pre-packaged, ready-to-use environment for fast deployment. PLM Express’ role-based selections of the full V6 portfolio and its out-of-the-box configurations make the solution easy to buy and use. Because all V6 solutions share the same interface and data model, mid-market users can inherently collaborate and integrate with OEMs, says Dassault.

In addition to the V6 PLM Express, the new release includes the CATIA Live Shape and SIMULIA V6 DesignSight Structure. CATIA Live Shape introduces a direct 3D modeling paradigm, allowing casual users to quickly create design concepts in a lifelike environment and easily modify existing designs, including those from other CAD solutions, while SIMULIA V6 DesignSight Structure makes advanced non-linear finite element analysis technology available to non-experts.

Dassault says the V6R2010 ready-to-use business process capabilities enable high-tech OEMs and EMS companies to drive an efficient sourcing strategy and ensure product and component compliance, while enabling “Design Anywhere, Manufacture Anywhere” agility and savings.

This release also extends the DS solutions value for the semiconductor industry by connecting digital and embedded software designers working within the Eclipse IDE to their analog and custom design peers working within EDA environments, says Dassault. Upshot: It delivers a single, collaborative design management system for improved quality and time to market for complex IC products.

The V6R2010 supports shipbuilding and energy, life sciences (medical devices), industrial equipment, consumer packaged goods, consumer goods, automotive and aerospace industries.
