Smyrna, Ga. — Murata Manufacturing Company, Ltd., a global supplier of ceramic passive components, announced that it has purchased the multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) business from Panasonic Electronic Devices (PED), significantly strengthening its competitive edge in the MLCC market.
Murata will acquire PEDs’ technology, distributors and customers. The acquisition also includes the transfer of sales, patents and some facilities, which will take place by January 2010.
