Sunnyvale, Calif. OSRAM Opto Semiconductors has introduced the OSLON MX ECE and OSLON SX ECE LEDs targeted at daytime running lights in the front-light clusters of mid-range vehicles. OSRAM also offers automotive LEDs for rear-light clusters and brake lights.
As high-power ceramic components, the OSLON MX ECE and its lower-power sister component, the OSLON SX ECE, are positioned between OSRAM’s Advanced Power TopLED and the Golden DRAGON, extending the range in terms of both performance and price, said the company. Both of these energy-efficient LEDs address the increasing acceptance of daytime running lights in mainstream markets.
These LEDs measure 3 x 3 mm2 and use the latest ThinGan chip technology. The 1-watt OSLON MX ECE LEDs provide a light output of 70 to 95 lm, and can be operated at temperatures up to 150°C. Manufacturers looking for a 0.5-W solution can choose the OSLON SX ECE, which has the same dimensions and thermal stability as the MX version with a light output of 40 to 60 lm. Their small dimensions enable both LEDs to be integrated into compact, low-profile designs.
