San Jose, Calif. Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) has claimed the industry’s first embedded DisplayPort-based timing controller (TCON) to support 3-D resolution in notebook that use a liquid crystal display (LCD) displays.
Delivering 3-D gaming and digital 3-D content to portable applications, the IDT eDP 3-D TCON integrates a backlight LED driver to improve the image quality on the notebook display. By integrating the LED driver, the device helps reduce power consumption, which extends battery life. It also provides designers with increased flexibility and reduced component count, helping reduce bill of materials and decrease time to market for notebook providers, said IDT.
The IDT eDP 3-D TCON is compliant to VESA DisplayPort 1.1a standard, and supports up to four differential-pair lanes at 1.62 Gbits/s and 2.7 Gbits/s link rates. In addition, the IDT 3-D TCON supports popular resolutions of 1280 x 800, 1366 x 768, 1440 x 900, 1600 x 900, 1600 x 945, 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1080 and 1920 x 1200 for notebooks using thin film transistor (TFT) LCD panels.
