Tokyo, Japan — Hitachi has demonstrated new additions to its LCD-TV lineup at CEATEC 2010 that incorporate the company’s new S-LED (Slim-block LED) backlight technology developed in partnership with Global Lighting Technologies (GLT) (Brecksville, Ohio).
The brightness of each backlight is independently controlled by a small block of LEDs, delivering sharp contrasts with clear colors and true deep blacks.
Scaling back brightness in black pixels also allows for less power consumption: about 27 percent for the L42, and 21 percent for the L37.
