Charlottesville, Va. GE Intelligent Platforms has introduced two rugged single-board computers (SBCs) based on 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 “Sandy Bridge” processors. The XCR14 6U CompactPCI and XVR14 6U VME platforms join the previously-announced SBC324 3U VPX and SBC624 6U VPX SBCs.
Both the XCR14 and XVR14 provide a choice of either dual- or quad-core 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 processors operating at up to 2.5GHz, offering a range of four performance/watt options, and up to 16 GBytes of soldered DDR3 SDRAM with ECC. These features, together with graphics capability and Intel’s Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) technology, make them well-suited for challenging applications such as telecommunications and military/aerospace.
In addition to a comprehensive range of onboard I/O features including four Gigabit Ethernet ports, five USB 2.0 ports, two DVI ports, VGA, audio and two COM ports, the XCR14 and XVR14 SBCs also offer two on-board mezzanine expansion sites (both PCI-X PMC/PCI Express XMC) capable for enhanced system flexibility. SATA ports are also supported.
