Digi-Key drops print catalog for the environment

Thief River Falls, Minn. — Digi-Key Corp., a global electronic components distributor, has dropped all print versions of its product catalog and TechZone Magazine, offering this content exclusively online.

Digi-Key says this all-digital decision is driven by the company’s environmental efforts, while marking a major milestone in the catalog distributor’s transition into a totally integrated Internet-based distributor. Integrating all product and support information online puts engineers and procurement professionals in control as they solve tough product development challenges, said Digi-Key.

The company’s online offerings include an interactive online catalog of a broad selection of products for immediate order, an online BOM Manager for customized order assembly and packaging, and a state-of-the-art online system to process purchases in as few as 15 minutes.

The distributor’s website also houses more than 1,000 exclusive PTM Online…On Demand product training modules, and online interactive TechZone magazines focused on lighting, microcontroller, power, sensor and wireless solutions. The magazines are part of Digi-Key’s online TechZone technology zones.

The distributor also offers a host of other online tools including a reference design library, and mobile and social center where customers can interact with Digi-Key.

Digi-Key’s total integration strategy was recognized by Bishop & Associates’ 2010 U.S. Customer Survey of the Electronic Distribution Industry, which ranked Digi-Key No. 1 for best in on-time delivery, ease of ordering, and product depth, availability and easy-to-find-information on the company’s website.
