Thief River Falls, Minn. — Digi-Key Corp. now offers 3M’s SL8800 Series of twin axial ribbon cable. The catalog distributor also has expanded its distribution agreement with Hirose Electric Co., Ltd.
3M’s SL8800 Series, targeting space-constrained systems, is available in four-channel 100 ohm, 30 AWG versions. The unjacketed cables are extremely thin and flexible enough to be folded with minimal loss or performance impact — less than 0.5 ohm impedance local variation at each fold. They can also be routed through narrow openings in densely packaged equipment with little to no effect on performance, said Digi-Key.
In addition, the longitudinal shielded construction of the SL8800 cables provides resonance-free attenuation up to 20 GHz and can support transmission speeds from 1 Gbits/s to 25 Gbits/s and beyond.
Digi-Key also expanded its distribution agreement with Hirose (Simi Valley, Calif.) to distribute the connector maker’s products in Europe and Asia.
