Sunnyvale, Calif. Supertex, Inc. has introduced the HV881, a sixteen-channel, dimmable, electroluminescent (EL) lamp driver designed to deliver high-voltage output to EL lamps used in backlighting for cellular phone keypads and other mobile devices.
The HV881 is designed to drive up to sixteen EL lamps with individually selectable brightness levels and dimming capabilities. It features a 340-V peak-to-peak output from an input voltage of 1.8-V to 5.5-V to deliver uniform high brightness in the lamps.
The IC uses an external MOSFET, a single inductor and a minimal number of passive components to drive the EL lamps, said Supertex. It is compatible with single-cell lithium-ion batteries and offers split supply capability.
The RoHS-compliant HV881 is available in a QFN-32 (HV881K7-G) package.
Availability: Samples are available from stock. Lead time for production quantities is four to six weeks ARO.
Pricing: $3.97 each for the HV881K7-G in quantities of 1,000.
