Murata Power Solutions,Mansfield,Mass., has expanded its range of DC/DC converters that are compliant to the Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA). The OKI-T/3-W32 series of surface-mount point of load (PoL) supplies is aimed at +12 or +24 Vdc industrial applications where a wide input range in a standard package is required. This new series can accommodate a wide input voltage range from +9 to +32 Vdc, which means one part can be used for both nominal input voltages.
These modules, with a typical efficiency of 89%, are fully compatible with the DOSA package specifications and measure 11.9 x 20.8 x 8.5 mm (0.47 x 0.82 x 0.34) inches. The non-isolated series offers a 3-amp programmable output voltage that can be set from +0.75 to +4.5 Vdc. Power output at 4.5 Vout is 13.5 W.
The modules also provide several protection features including under-voltage lockout, output short circuit, as well as over-current and over-temperature protection. The series is capable of driving up to 1000 µF ceramic capacitive loads, keeping ripple and noise to a minimum. The operating temperature ranges from -40 deg C to +85 deg C with derating, which meets most demanding environments, said Murata.
