Two of the most recent electronic component distributors to join ECIA’s new “authorized-only” parts inventory search website are Sager Electronics and Allied Electronics. Both distributors have added their entire components inventory to the search site in an effort to combat counterfeit components in the supply chain.
ECIA says the www.eciaauthorized.com site is a key part of the industry association’s strategy to deal with counterfeit parts, by providing component buyers with a secure location to find authorized product. Currently, more than two dozen authorized distributors make their inventories available for search at the site. Sponsoring ECIA members include Digi-Key, TTI, Sager, Avnet Express and Future Electronics.
As one of the latest distributors to add its available inventory to the site, Sager Electronics is a North American distributor of electronic components with corporate offices and a 100,000 square foot warehouse in Middleborough, Mass.
“Customers need to be assured the parts they are procuring come from authorized suppliers,” stated Frank Flynn, president of Sager Electronics. “We are very pleased to be part of ECIAauthorized.com and we fully support the ECIA’s efforts to promote authorized sources. We are confident this new website will benefit buyers and specifiers everywhere.”
Sager’s authorized product line includes interconnect, sensors, switches, relays, circuit protection, EMI, power supplies, thermal management, filters, power entry modules, magnetics, LEDs, capacitors, resistors, motors, printers and hardware.
Allied Electronics, Inc., headquartered in Fort Worth, Tex. with sales offices across the United States and Canada, also added its full complement of inventory to the site. With more than 2 million products in its inventory, Allied says it is able to meet the needs of a wide range of customers in a variety of businesses and industries.
“ECIAauthorized.com is the industry’s safest parts inventory search engine,” stated Scott McLendon, Allied’s vice president of product management and marketing. “The information is always up-to-date, orders are placed directly with the distributors and no unauthorized sources are allowed. We’re very happy to be a part of it and proud of the association’s efforts to protect buyers from counterfeit components.”
Allied’s authorized product line includes audio, video, RF and security devices, automation and control equipment and components, batteries, chemicals, adhesives, circuit protection, connectors, enclosures, racks, cabinets, ESD products, and prototyping aids. Other lines include fans, motors, thermal management, optoelectronics, lighting, passive components, pneumatics, power products, semiconductors, sensors, switches, relays, test and measurement devices, tools, hardware, and wire and cable.
Buyers and engineers can search using a full or partial manufacturer’s part number to find components in stock at ECIA authorized distributors. Search results are based on all participating distributors and displayed at random, based on search match and availability. All sales are completed through each distributor’s private site. Sager orders, for example, will be placed through www.sager.com, and Allied’s order through www.allied.com.
