Chicago, Ill. Newark is stocking Cirrus Logic’s new CS1501/CS1601 digital power factor correction (PFC) ICs, demo boards and a reference design kit, aimed at notebook adapters, digital TVs, PCs and LED fluorescent ballasts. The high-performance ICs allow for simpler and smaller system designs in comparison to legacy analog PFC controllers, said Newark.
The CS1501/CS1601 PFC ICs, designed for switch-mode power supplies rated up to 300 watts, provide an industry-standard pinout to ensure an easy upgrade path from analog controllers, which are nearing the end of their capabilities to meet strict global regulations for the utility grid, said Newark. They are said to offer best-in-class total harmonic distortion, power factor and efficiency across all load conditions, while reducing the size and number of required external components.
