Avnet Memec announced today the extension of its distribution agreement with White Electronic Designs (WEDC). The existing partnership will be expanded to the markets of Italy, France, Nordic, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey. Avnet Memec received the WEDC distributorship in the UK and Ireland through the acquisition of Azzurri last year. Based on the strength of its performance in those markets, Avnet Memec is now able to extend the relationship to other European countries.
WEDC provides microelectronic and semiconductor packaging for mission-critical defense and aerospace applications requiring extended environment, high-reliability, high-density products. These include applications such as Net-Centric Operations, Missiles and Ordnance, Aircraft, Ground, Amphibious and Marine Vetronics, and Spacecraft and Satellites.
We are very pleased about the extended distribution agreement with WEDC. It is a recognition for our performance over the last months and also highlights WEDCs trust in our expertise in the field of marketing and selling the technology. We will be able to offer customers across Europe a broader selection of technology and WEDCs products fit well into our technology portfolio, stated Steve Haynes, President of Avnet Memec.
Kate Hopeman, Worldwide Sales Director, White Electronic Design, commented, Avnet Memec will help us to further strengthen our position in the European market through its proven commitment, its excellent market know-how and its extensive team of technical sales and field application engineers. Avnet Memec is the right partner to serve customers with WEDC technology in Europe.
