NIC Components has introduced two new ranges of stacked film chip capacitors. The NSHC and NSPU series are designed to combine small size with stability under voltage, stability over time, immunity from cracking and low dielectric loss making them an ideal alternative to MLCC capacitors. Both ranges are RoHS compliant and ready for reflow soldering. Based on a stacked metallized polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) film construction, the NSHC series has an operating temperature range of -55 to 125C. NIC can supply 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 1913 and 2416 case sizes, with capacitance values from 100pF to 0.22F and voltage ratings of either 16 or 50VDC. The NSHC series is said to offer stable temperature, frequency, voltage, bias and dielectric absorption.

The NSPU series uses stacked metallized acrylic resin film construction to deliver high capacitance values. Parts are available in 0805, 1206 and 1210 formats with capacitance values range from 0.068 to 1.0F with a 16VDC voltage rating. Operating temperature range is -40 to 85C.
