ODU has had a clean room for manufacturing castings in a controlled environment since April of this year. The room at ODU is classified as ISO class 9 according to the ISO 14644-1 cleanroom classes. Cleanrooms are generally designed in such a way that the concentration of airborne particles does not exceed a certain value within the room.
This means that the largest particle that is allowed to enter via the ventilation system has a size a maximum of 5m.
Further key data regarding the clean room:
– Adjustable relative air humidity: 30% to 70%
– Temperature range 22 C 2 C (approx. 72 F 4 F)
– Excess pressure approx. 0.3 – 0.8 bar.
The new production equipment, combined with the use and development of new, forward-looking casting techniques, means that in the future, customers will profit from an even larger variety of premium castings.
