Connector supports renewable energy

Harting has introduced the Han Q2/0 connector, a two-pole device designed for single-phase decentralised power-supply applications requiring currents up to 40A. Based on photovoltaic generation, decentralised power supplies can be used to provide renewable energy in applications such as lighting, signalling and telecommunications. To ensure suitability in different environments, the Han Q2/0 can be combined with Harting’s range of Han 3A hoods and housings. Axial screw termination technology guarantees a safe and reliable connection, already utilised in applications such as railcars where the connector is exposed to shocks and vibration. This type of termination is also compact contact and unlike crimping, does not require any special tools when connecting the conductor to the contact.

Wire gauges range from four to 6.0mm and the two-pole plus protective earth contact configuration is complemented by a coding system that prevents incorrect mating. For added safety, the Han Q 2/0 meets the latest standards of finger protection for use in energy storage devices such as batteries, as applied to photovoltaic systems, and is designed to withstand voltages of up to 830V.
