Detect switches designed for portable medical equipment

C&K Components has developed a broad line of detect switches for ATCA (Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture) and AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Card) use in portable medical equipment. The HDS, HDT, MDS, SDP, SDS and SDT Series detect switches are implemented on the server blade of the ATCA equipment or on AMCs as a safety mechanism to verify that the blade is powered down (processing), ensuring no data is lost. ATCA and AMCs are growing in popularity in medical electronics, functioning to gather data in portable imaging and diagnostic equipment, and serving as a type of flash memory to remove and review data, said David Webber, director of product management for C&K Components. Because the environmental conditions of portable medical equipment call for higher temperature capabilities and increased tolerance to shock and vibration, this complete line of detect switches are capable of operation at a wider temperature range and are available in a variety of compact configurations to suit reliability, lifespan and space requirements.

C&Ks line of detect switches feature expanded temperature ranges from -40C to +85C. The detect switches specified for use in portable medical equipment include:

HDS Series micro-miniature, side-actuated surface mount detect switch in right and left actuation configurations with a board-mounted profile of just 1.4mm;
HDT Series micro-miniature surface mount detect switch with a board-mounted profile of just 3.5mm, designed for both top and side actuation;
MDS Series Micro snap-acting detect switch available in vertical and right-angle configurations with through-hole and surface mount termination styles;
SDP Series micro-miniature side-actuated pendulum detect switch with a board-mounted profile of just 1.9mm;
SDS Series – micro-miniature, side-actuated, right angle detect switch with a board-mounted profile of just 2mm;
SDT Series micro-miniature surface mount detect switch with a pendulum style construction, allowing the switch to be actuated from the top or the side and with a board-mounted profile of only 3.3mm.
