Sierra Wireless is integrating Toulouse-based Anyware Technologies to create an integrated business unit focused on machine-to-machine solutions for managing any remote set of equipment. As part of the integration, the open source solutions and services arm of Anyware Technologies will be spun off as an independent enterprise. The new enterprise, based in the Toulouse area, will focus on IT and web consulting and will continue to support the open source development of the Ametys CMS tool suite.
The new Sierra Wireless business unit provides solutions that allow systems integrators, key accounts and telecom operators to roll out complete machine-to-machine solutions for managing any remote set of equipment. The solutions are based on tools that facilitate the development of embedded applications on a platform of M2M services (M2MOperatingPortal(TM)) that is comprehensive, scalable, secure and compatible with the majority of wireless equipment available on the market. Anyware Technologies’ historic expertise in open source technologies is a strategic advantage, allowing it to offer open source tools that easily integrate into existing systems.
‘The integration of Anyware Technologies into Sierra Wireless brings the company a key competitive advantage, providing us with the ability to round out our portfolio of current products with an innovative software-as-a-service offering and cover the entire value chain for machine-to-machine applications,’ said Jason Cohenour, President and CEO of Sierra Wireless. ‘It is an important component in our strategy and we are pleased to welcome the Anyware team into the Sierra Wireless family.’
‘We are very lucky to have joined Sierra Wireless. Our product offering is unique in the machine-to-machine market in that it covers the entire value chain and can be delivered on a global scale. This integration will enable us to accelerate the roll-out of new customer applications and will rapidly advance our international development. As part of Sierra Wireless, the Anyware Technologies team will continue our track record of providing new increasingly innovative solutions for the thriving M2M market,’ said Emmanuel Walckenaer, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Solutions and Services, for Sierra Wireless.
