Green portal aids eco-design

Anglia has launched a new Green Pages web portal highlighting practical eco-design solutions based around the company’s portfolio of green electronic components. Specific categories include power management, energy efficiency and solid state lighting, with a number of energy-saving reference designs available for download. The site has been established in response to European environmental directives, which are increasing the legal responsibilities of designers and manufacturers to be as energy-efficient as possible. It makes commercial sense for companies to be aware of their impact on the environment and the portal is designed to help them adjust their purchasing decisions accordingly.

Users will find a number of links to resources supporting compliance on energy efficiency, as well as practical solutions to eco-design profiling green components and the latest technologies designed to minimise the environmental impact of electronic designs.

In other news from Anglia, the company has signed an agreement with Sharp Microelectronics to distribute its LCD displays, optoelectronics and LSI components in the UK and Ireland. The Sharp range includes TFT displays ranging from 2.5 to 65in diagonals, for applications in commercial signage, handheld devices and industrial control, plus flash memory, high brightness LEDs, laser diodes and photocouplers.

Divisional marketing manager at Anglia, Joel Munday, said: The addition of the Sharp franchise will enable us to offer the best choice of displays across all applications and market sectors.
