Molex has developed a line of Mini-HMC heavy-duty connectors targeted at compact factory automation applications, such as small robots, industrial controls, factory automation and production and medical equipment. By adapting features from its existing HMC robotics range, the Mini-HMC system is said to provide a 65 per cent space saving. Features include a crescent-shaped metal hood with single action spring lock, which enables the lever to be engaged smoothly and locked into place.
No tools are required to insert or remove the 3mm modular housings from the die-cast panel-mount shell, which Molex claims will provide easier assembly and field-servicing compared to circular versions. Housings can also be placed on the cable hood or panel-mount sides for added flexibility.
Housings are available in modular units of ten-circuits, with a maximum of 40-circuits per side, with gold-plated terminals available in 18 to 28 wire gauges. Crimp termination is said to offer higher reliability and assembly productivity than hand-solder versions. The Mini-HMC system complies with key industrial standards including VDE 0627/VDE0110, IEC 204-1/IEC 529 (IP65) and UL and CSA.
