Make the switch

Peregrine Semiconductor announces the UltraCMOS PE95420 SPDT RF switch. Delivering broadband performance up to 8.5GHz, the switch is ideal for high reliability applications such as telecom infrastructure, microwave radios, test instrumentation and space. As with all UltraCMOS silicon-on-sapphire ICs, it is said to offer excellent isolation and insertion loss, making it suitable for any RF communication system requiring hermetically sealed ceramic package performance in high temperature, high humidity or radiation environments. Isolation up to 82dB at 100MHz ensures the device is ideal for IF to X-band applications.

Director of product marketing, Dale Robinette, said: With a broadband product operating DC to 8,500MHz, customers can reduce costs by eliminating the need to qualify additional devices in the system.

The new SPDT incorporates a single-pin 3.3V CMOS logic control which lowers the number of control lines, reducing signal routing and potential failures in a system.

Package options will include a seven-lead hermetic surface-mount CSOIC and a die form model.
