22 new 16-Bit All Flash microcontrollers (MCUs) from NEC Electronics Europe are obtainable from Sasco Holz GmbH. These 78K0R/Kx3-L MCUs, designed for compact, low-power, battery operated and sensor-enabled systems, are based on a 16-Bit 78K0R CPU core and offer very low power consumption to extend battery life. There is also more on-chip integration to help reduce the size and cost of battery-driven and sensorabled systems.
In addition to low power consumption, the new line-up offers high-performance onchip oscillators, built-in circuits for sensor functions and extended system operating time. By optimising their power management circuitry, standby power consumption in these new devices has been reduced (when only the real-time clock functions are operational) by 60%, from an average of 2.4 to 1.0A. Likewise, power consumption at 10MHz operation has been reduced by 10% from 3.9 to 3.5mA, and at 20MHz operation by 20%, from 8.2 to 6.5mA.
