Molex has entered into a strategic alliance with Leviton Manufacturing Company to deliver LED lighting solutions to manufacturers of commercial, industrial and residential lighting fixtures. The partnership will align Molexs Transcend Lighting Series of LED products with Levitons extensive distribution and sales networks, helping to drive the adoption of LED light source technology to fixture manufacturers on a global scale. The Transcend line of easy-to-implement, plug-and-play LED products overcomes many of the existing barriers that have prevented the widespread adoption of this key light source technology by todays fixture manufacturers, said Chris Doveala, Vice President of Levitons OEM business. Molexs superior technology and efficient integration solution overcomes many of these implementation issues, and we are pleased to partner with them on this exciting new venture.
Until now, the lighting market lacked self-contained, modular LED products that effectively addressed the needs of todays fixture manufacturers, said Mike Picini, Vice President of Solid State Lighting at Molex Incorporated. Levitons long-standing presence in the lighting industry, combined with its extensive distribution and sales networks, make it the ideal partner for this exciting joint initiative.
This new product offering enables fixture manufacturers to concentrate on their designs by allowing the seamless integration of new, high-efficacy, solid state LED technology to convert existing light fixtures in the market or to design in the new fixture production process. These products offered exclusively through Leviton are compact, interchangeable modules that address issues such as precise heat and current management, as well as superior illumination. The products are dimmable using Leviton dimmers and can connect to fixtures using Leviton GU24 base sockets.
The first two products offered are the Transcend RM2, which provides efficient LED directional light with various beam intensity and angular distribution, and the Transcend PM3, which provides a diffused optic for ambient or decorative light. Both products are based on the Acriche 4W AC LED from Seoul Semiconductor, and can be plugged directly into the AC line voltage without a converter or separate power supply.
