Honda has introduced a series of connectors in accordance with the SFP MSA standard, which relates to the interface with compact small form-factor pluggable (CSFP) transceivers. Compatible with the one-channel CSFP transceiver, the AKX-A series is a 10-contact, surface-mount connector with a 0.8mm pitch. It features roll-surface contacts, minimising damage to PCB contact surfaces and increasing long-term reliability. By adopting the operational characteristics of the companys existing AKX-series SFP connector, the A derivative ensures high-speed transmission is maintained.
The compact SFP multi source agreement has been concluded between NEC, Fujikura and eGtran, and relates to the size of the new CSFP transceiver, which has been reduced by half.
