Strong growth in kitting service division

Independent supplier of electronic components, Rebound Electronics, has announced that the kitting service element of its operations has reported substantial growth over the last six months and is likely to increase by a further 33 per cent by the second quarter of 2009. Rebounds portfolio of services are designed to streamline customers supply chain management and kitting forms an integral part of this offering. This announcement comes not long after the firms recent acquisition of Delta Impact. The ability to provide turnkey product solutions and global market pricing that is both realistic and workable is core to the groups long term strategy and the growth witnessed in the kitting service supports its success.

The company has built a reputation on delivering a tailored approach to electronic component kitting by using its proprietary component management system. By taking the idea of electronics supply chain management and kitting to a new level, Rebound is able to supply its customers with complete, assembly ready kits when and where they are needed.

Corporate project manager for Rebound, Alan Brown, explained: We recognise that customers needs will differ greatly from project to project so we have to ensure that we provide a bespoke service package that allows us to take the BOM and supply it as a complete package. This global service can help with both new product introductions as well as the product’s lifecycle by taking away the associated headaches of inventory and supply chain management.

The ability to deliver complete, assembly ready, error-free kits that are driven by the customers actual sales figures and not his potential sales saves both time and money. We are increasingly finding that more customers are reducing lead times, matching delivery with production schedule as well as consolidating administration by using this service. I believe that this success can be attributed to both new sub-contractors and EMS providers focusing more on their core strengths (manufacturing) whilst outsourcing more of the non core elements. This, combined with our recent acquisition of Delta Impact which has increased our capability, means that we are well placed to continue developing this area of the business in order to offer real solutions to the industry.
