Vishay Intertechnology addresses rising demand for white surface-mount LEDs with the MiniLED, a low profile LED package measuring 2.3 by 1.3 by 1.4mm with a luminous intensity of 56 mcd. Designated the VLMW2100, it provides reliable operation in small-scale, high-power applications including harsh automotive and industrial environments. Applications could include backlighting in automotive dashboards and switches, indicators in telecommunications systems, audio, video and office equipment, and flat backlighting for LCDs, switches and symbols in general use.
It has a luminous intensity ratio of 2.0 per packaging unit, plus a 60 angle of half-intensity, said to provide bright, even lighting. Vishay also claims low power consumption for efficient performance and long battery life.
Housed in a lead-free and RoHS-compliant EIA and ICE-standard package, VLMW2100 has been preconditioned according to JECED level three standards. It is also CECC compatible with infrared, vapour phase and wave solder processes. Available in 8mm tape for automatic assembly, samples and production quantities of the MiniLED are available now, with lead times of four weeks for large orders.
