ALPS Green Devices has developed the GLMD series Liqualloy Power Inductor for high-current applications such as CPU power supplies in notebook PCs and servers. The device addresses demands for increased power consumption and efficiency in these products.
The company already supplies GLMC series power inductors for use in the local power supplies for memory, LCD displays and other subsystems and now offers the Liqualloy Power Inductor for high-current applications such as CPU power supplies.
Liqualloy, the core material used in the inductor, is a metallic glass with magnetic properties. It is proprietary to Alps Green Devices and boasts low losses. DC resistance has also been reduced by adopting assembly technology and proprietary winding technology, which provides low losses and low heat generation under heavy loads.
