Sharp supports partners at embedded world 2012

Independent from different sizes TFT LCDs are the predominant and most flexible display technology for modern and intelligent HMIs (Human-Machine-Interfaces). Thanks to the company’s capacious portfolio as well as the world’s most efficient LCD production facilities of the 10th, 8th and 6th generation inSakai and Kameyama Sharp is able to offer display solutions matching the individual requirements of the whole spectrum of different applications.

From its new e-signage displays series Sharp is showing a 80” standard TFT LCD with full HD resolution, 176° h/v viewing angle and a brightness of 500 cd/m² at the stand of Avnet Embedded in hall1. All in all, the new digital signage portfolio consist of more than a dozen models in sizes of 60”, 70” and 80” also including high brightness screens with up to 2,000 cd/m² and super narrow bezel modules. In addition, a 70” version Sharp’s interactive white board integrating an IR touch on a high performance FHD LCD panel can be found at the booth of Arrow in hall 5.

With industrial automation TFT LCDs the trend continues towards wide format and high brightness. Sharp is showing the latest innovations in displays for industrial type of applications at the stands of Arrow in hall 5 as well as of Avnet Embedded and Data Modul, both in hall 1. Of course, all new models IA TFT LCDs are equipped with LED backlights with excellent dimming capabilities for adaptive brightness control. Particular suitable for outdoor applications and touch-screen HMIs are new high brightness models with up to 1,200 cd/m².

Furthermore, Sharp took the so called Memory LCDs for low power applications another step ahead. New models of the portfolio provide higher resolutions and new shapes. E.g. with a width of 35.1 mm and a height of just 11 mm the new type LS012B4DG01 is predestined for shelf-labelling applications or status displays for battery powered tools. Also a round Memory LCD is shown as technology case for e.g. sports computers, to be seen at the 2nd stand of Arrow in hall 4A. There one can also find the ORYX board as reference design for Memory LCDs – a very good tool for the development of portable ultra low power applications.

“Co-exhibiting with partners has proven as quite successful concept last two years”, explains Fabio Perfetti Distribution Manager at Sharp Microelectronics Europe. “The close cooperation at trade shows and other events enables us to support our partners, particularly in even better serving customers for our components.”
