Ian Welland, head of area development for Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, will be visiting the Southern Manufacturing & Electronics show in Farnborough next week to meet some of the local manufacturing businesses achieving notable success.
The largest manufacturing and electronics exhibition in the south of England takes place at FIVE, Farnborough on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th February, and is set to be the largest ever staged with over 600 exhibitors.
Ian Welland commented; “Over 40 companies located in Hampshire are represented at this event and it is particularly pleasing to note our manufacturing and hi-tech industries are making a substantial contribution by spearheading the effort to pull Britain out of recession. It is refreshing also to note that British companies are successfully winning overseas contracts for products and services including research and development. Hampshire Chamber’s ethos of supporting growth and prosperity matches that of the businesses on view and the networks across the UK and world markets.”
The 2011 Annual Manufacturing Report published in November confirmed manufacturing is a key driver for the economy. The Southern Manufacturing and Electronics Show is the premier forum for these technologies and many more, hosting exhibitors from industrial manufacturing, autosport, aerospace, marine and medical engineering, and attracting 6,500 visitors in 2011 from all over Europe. Free entry and easy access means that local business people with an interest in manufacturing can pop in during their lunch hour or stay for the whole day. Along with hundreds of exhibitors, the show hosts an impressive free seminar programme, giving visitors the opportunity to hear acknowledged experts from industry, science and commerce discuss a wide range of topics. FIVE Farnborough, next to the airport, offers plentiful free onsite parking and rail/air access for visitors.
