F-RAM finds a new home

Digi-Key’s vice president of semiconductors, Mark Zack, says F-RAM technology is being adopted quickly

Electronic components distributor, Digi-Key, has signed a global distribution agreement with Ramtron International to supply the company’s nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memory (F-RAM) and integrated semiconductor solutions. The entire range will be available for purchase from Digi-Key’s websites.

Digi-Key’s vice president of semiconductors, Mark Zack, said: “The adoption of F-RAM technology is growing quickly and Ramtron is a leading supplier in this area, pioneering research into ferroelectric materials and their integration into semiconductor products.”

F-RAM boasts several features relative to other semiconductor technologies, not least that it does not lose data when power is removed or interrupted. F-RAM is designed to combine the non-volatile benefits of programmable read-only memory (PROM) with the speed and ease-of-use of random access memory (RAM) in a single device. Ramtron offers a portfolio of hundreds of F-RAM-based solutions including standard, ultra-low energy and wireless memory products.  Available and in stock from Digi-Key, Ramtron products target a variety of industrial, consumer, automotive and military/aerospace markets.
