Offers direct alternatives for recently ‘obsoleted’ parts
Avnet Embedded in EMEA, an Avnet, Inc. company, has reacted to the sudden EoL (End of Life) notification by a leading manufacturer of small sized ‘industrial’ TFT and AMOLED displays by promising customers that the products it supplies will be available on the market for ‘years to come‘. More, the company is also offering direct replacement for customers who have been left stranded from leading names AUO, LG Displays and Logic Technologies – all of which are within Avnet Embedded’s franchise base.
The G043FW01 V0 from AUO is a 4.3” WQVGA (480×272) colour TFT LCD panel with driver ICs and backlight unit and has a product availability lifetime of a minimum of three years, suiting it to applications such as medical, instrumentation, automotive, industrial controls and more. Product specs include a 450 cd/m² high brightness LED backlight, contrast ratio of 400:1 and 8 bit TTL interface.

Also offered with a minimum product availability lifetime of three years, the LTTD240400030-L3-TF from Logic Technologies is a 3.0” WQVGA (240×400) transflective, LED backlit colour TFT LCD. Because of its transflective nature the display suits low power, handheld applications that will be used in an outside and inside environment. Features include a surface luminance of 130 cd/m² and contrast ratio of 100:1.
Comments Mats Sjoebrand, Marketing Director Displays at Avnet Embedded: “We appreciate how disruptive it can be for a business if a product that an engineer has designed-in becomes designated for end of life. Therefore we effectively manage this process thanks to the relationships we have with our suppliers and their factories who regularly keep us advised of changes with regular PCN’s (Product Change Notifications) and PDN’s (Product Discontinuation Notifications). This advice is fed straight back to our customers, resulting in a minimum of effect to their businesses. More, we work very closely with our customers to offer direct replacements – often with enhanced performance – when products do, inevitably, become obsolete.“
