In today’s LED packaging trade, competition, new technological R&D trends and market prices are hugely influential. As the industry’s most important local event in the first half of the year, Green Lighting Shanghai will deliver fresh updates, from across China’s LED industry, to trade professionals. The show will be an authoritative exhibition on LED lighting and a robust platform for international exchange.
Highlight 1: China’s LED Packaging Industry Set for IPO-Inspired Reshuffle
In 2012, thanks to the capital market, the productivity of the domestic LED packaging industry will rise and competition for market share will intensify. Small and medium sized factories with relatively weak technical and marketing capabilities will be eliminated.
Currently, there are between 1,200 and 1,500 packaging factories in China. Forty of these are top tier factories with annual turnover of over RMB 100 million (USD 15.8 million). Under 400 factories (approx. 30% of the total) make up the Tier 2 factories, each of which have an annual turnover between RMB 10 million (USD 1.6 million) and RMB 100 million (USD 15.8 million). The remaining factories, a large majority, have a turnover of less than RMB 10 million (USD 1.6 million). This figure falls far short of the average RMB 1 billion (USD 158 million) turned over byTaiwan’s top eight listed packaging companies.
A senior member of the Green Lighting Shanghai Organizing Committee indicated that as competition in China’s LED packaging industry intensifies, manufacturers are boosting promotion as a way of extending market share and avoiding the pitfalls of overcapacity. A number of LED packaging manufacturers from the Mainland and from Taiwan will collectively showcase packaging solutions at this year’s Green Lighting Shanghai event.
Highlight 2: New LED Packaging Products and Shrinking Prices
In 2012, competition among LED packaging products will be dominated by LED backlight and LED lighting. With the prices of some products having fallen, its application in the LED lighting market will rise. Hundreds of well-known companies will display their products at Green Lighting Shanghai this year. They include Philips Lumileds, Cree, Nichia, Seoul Semiconductor, Rohm, Epistar Corporation, Zhongwei Optoelectronics Technology, Everfine Photo-E-Inf, Hangke,Stanley, Kisco, Everlight Electronics, Wanban International Electronics, Sunpu-Opto Semiconductor, Sanan Optoelectronics, Otsuka Electronics, Epilight Technology, Crystal-Optech, Speedfam Mechtronics, Inventronics, Lightlab Sweden AB, Zolix Instruments, Suntac, TDG Holdings, Sunfor Lighting and HongPu Optoelectronics Technology. A group of exhibitors from Taiwan, including LightLab Sweden AB, will hold a collective display at the show. The feature will showcase advanced technologies and be an excellent opportunity to forge firm bilateral alliances.
Highlight 3: Green Lighting Shanghai to Magnify Commercial Opportunities Through Innovative Floor Plan
Four Specialized Sections to Cover Entire Industry Chain: The show will be divided into four segments: Epitaxial Wafers & Chips, Sapphires & Materials, Manufacturing & Test Equipment, and Ideal Lighting.
Ideal Lighting to Showcase Fresh Innovation: By replicating the lighting of hotels, clubs, museums, roads, landscapes, displays, commercial interiors and buildings, the LED lighting show will have a bold, creative flourish.
Forum to Illustrate New Policy Trends: Themed “Low Carbon and Innovation: The Lighting Revolution”, the forum will feature two general assemblies and five summits. It will include hundreds of top local and international industry experts, scholars and corporate executives. These specialists will deliver engaging addresses to a combined audience of 1,200 industry professionals.
Dual Exhibitions to Boost Marketing Effect: Green Lighting Shanghai and NEPCON China, the largest event for Asia’s electronics manufacturing and SMT industry, will be collocated in 2012. Covering a combined area of over 40,000 sqm, the two shows are expected to attract over 700 of the electronics manufacturing industry’s and novel light source industries’ leading companies, as well as 20,000 trade professionals.
