TTI participates in L3 Symposium

TTI Vice President Total Quality, Kevin Sink, is slated to speak at the upcoming L3 Counterfeit Parts and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DSMS) Symposium, Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt DFW.

The L3 symposium will address issues concerning counterfeit electronic parts infiltrating the defense supply chain and recent legislation placed on the U.S. Department of Defense and its contractors.

Sink is scheduled to speak on behalf of TTI and authorized distribution’s role in mitigating the proliferation of counterfeit parts. He commented, “Authorized distributors are in lock-step with their suppliers to prevent counterfeiting.” Addressing passive component counterfeiting he notes that while passive components may be somewhat less likely to be counterfeited than active parts they are still at risk. “It is most important for TTI and other distributors to build relationships with their partner suppliers to ensure security within the channels that offer the least amount of counterfeiting risk.”

Addressing the future of counterfeiting, he added that new technologies to prevent counterfeiting are on the horizon, but until these practices are fully adopted customers must remain vigilant and cognizant of supply chain disruptions.
