Vector Fabrics has announced the appointment of Marco Jacobs as VP Marketing. With over 15 years experience in semiconductor industry marketing and parallel processing architectures, Marco is responsible for working with Tier 1 semiconductor manufacturers to bring a better multicore programming experience to their customers. He is also responsible for corporate and product marketing.
Marco says, “Going multicore is the only way to reach the performance required to enable next-generation applications such as augmented reality, computer vision, gaming, computational photography and high-speed web browsing. Programming multiple cores is very complex, though, and the industry needs new and innovative tools to assist the software developers. I’m excited to join the excellent Vector Fabrics team and help bring their technology that simplifies multicore optimization to market.”
Prior to joining Vector Fabrics, Marco was Director of Multimedia Marketing at ARC, later acquired by Virage Logic, where he spearheaded the adoption of ARC’s audio and video subsystems. In earlier roles, he held management positions at semiconductor start-up Silicon Hive (acquired by Intel), where he drove the company’s entry into camera processing, and parallel processor company BOPS (acquired by Altera), and was a software architect at Philips.
Jacobs studied computer science at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA. He holds 7 issued patents.
