Acal BFi – a division of Acal plc – announces the first European samples of OriginGPS’ new ultra-compact GPS receiver. As the industry’s smallest autonomous GPS receiver, the ORG4475 enables high-volume, cost-sensitive applications to achieve high levels of receiver sensitivity, with the flexibility to support an active or passive antenna, combined with ultra-low power consumption and a compact 5.6mm x 5.6mm footprint.
“This new receiver will help customers to equip their products with enhanced GNSS/GPS functionality whilst minimising board-space. Acal BFi’s unique position as OriginGPS’ specialist technical partner throughout Europe enables us to offer unrivalled product knowledge, dedicated design support and in-house manufacturing services which enable customers to get next-generation products to market faster and with less risk,” explains Martin Kemp, European Sales Manager Acal BFi.
The integration of an SiRFstarIV™ GPS processor and OriginGPS’ proprietary Noise Free Zone technology enables the ORG4475 to operate in challenging GPS environments, such as indoor tracking or when the end-user is on the move. This high level of GPS performance is achieved by using innovative GPS firmware which can detect changes in context, temperature, and satellite signals, and opportunistically update its internal parameters which enables the ORG4475 to deliver near-continuous navigation.
The ORG4475’s 5.6mm x 5.6mm package boasts an integrated TCXO, RTC crystal, LNA and SAW filters. They offer UART, SPI or I2C host interfaces, whilst achieving ultra-low power consumption of less than 9mW; a fast position fix of under one second and sensitivity of -163dBm, also allowing for an active or passive antenna to be used.
A limited number of ORG4475 samples, in addition to development kits for lead customers, are available to European customers, immediately and exclusively, from Acal BFi.
