Increased capacity, accuracy and consistency: one year on and Trojan’s new manufacturing facility has achieved its goals
Originally opened to provide additional capacity and high technology capability, Trojan Electronics’ new facility is now one year old.
The Swansea based contract electronics manufacturer instigated the new facility with a view to growth in the small/medium batch production of both SMT and through hole PCB assemblies. This has been achieved as planned, with significant additional capacity for box build product. The addition of a second SMT line has not only increased component placement capacity, but also facilitated placement of much finer pitch and smaller components.
Quality is a key ingredient in contract manufacturing and Trojan employs a number of techniques to ensure accuracy and consistency of product build. This emphasis, together with competitive pricing, helps Trojan obtain new business.
Its customers welcome these efforts, with one client stating: “Trojan is a first class supplier. Our PCAs and other products have always been produced on time, to the highest quality and at good prices. More unusually, Trojan adds real value to our designs: incorporating improvements and offering suggestions which ease the build, improve appearance and add to the professionalism of the end result.”
Trojan’s ‘make right first time, every time’ philosophy is reflected in its procedures. Resources and training are provided to ensure continual improvement and development of the quality system, which actually forms the backbone of the manufacturing process. Furthermore, Trojan aims to operate an open and honest approach by providing an open-book costing system and an open-factory approach – encouraging customers to visit the plant, carry out quality checks and audits and to feel involved in their product manufacture.
