A new 10GBASE-T 10 gigabit over twisted-pair integrated connector module (ICM) has been introduced by Pulse Electronics, targeted at the server, LAN on motherboard and storage markets. The module is a critical component in the 10GBASE-T ecosystem, currently deployed in enterprise and cloud data centres.
The new JT4-1120HL 1×1 ICM is said to support Ethernet speeds that are 10 times faster than previous generations of Ethernet over twisted pair technology. Pulse ICMs are tuned to have flat insertion loss curves and boast excellent return loss performance over 10GBASE-T frequencies. This enables the longest possible cable reach. The modules meet industry standard IEEE 802.3 and PCI Express (PCIe) mechanical requirements for a low profile package. This design helps 10GBASE-T system designers meet electromagnetic control system requirements such as FCC part 15 class B for high speed devices.
Product manager, Pulse Electronics, Chad Oblak, explained: “Upgrading from 1-gigabit to 10-gigabit twisted-pair Ethernet connections is a logical solution for data centres. This new design optimises the ICM to achieve maximum reach while meeting power spectral density (PSD) and EMC requirements simultaneously.”
