RS Components connects with Samtec in distribution agreement

RSCompanies align to deliver innovative interconnect solutions supported by first-class design tools and resources

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world’s leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has signed an EMEA and APAC-wide distribution agreement with Samtec, an industry-leading manufacturer of connectors and associated products.

Within the scope of the agreement, RS is authorised to resell Samtec’s broad line of interconnect products, which comprises three main categories covering signal integrity (high speed), micro pitch, and rugged/power, designed for use in a wide range of board-to-board, cable-to-board, panel and I/O applications.

More than 1250 products are available in the manufacturer’s industry-standard packaging, in addition to RS pack quantities, giving greater purchasing flexibility to customers requiring parts for pre-production prototyping. All parts will be available from stock for same day despatch.

As part of its online support programme for design engineers, RS will be adding Samtec’s connector range to its extensive library of more than 30,000 3D CAD models, available to download free-of-charge in multiple file formats from the RS website. These models are ready to import directly into all of the most popular CAD software packages, enabling faster product integration for the designer.

“Samtec is a recognised leader in the interconnect industry and has award-winning service capabilities to back up its strong product offering,” said Kevin McCormack, Global Head of Interconnect, Passives and Electromechanical, RS Components. “Our common goal to support engineers with free, open source information and tools to accelerate their designs means that customers will gain significant advantage from this cooperation.”

Alan McLean, European Director, Samtec, added, “We are aligned with RS in our objective to provide engineers with access to comprehensive technical information to ease the design process. The growing popularity of the free online tools and resources that RS offers is evidence of their value to the engineering community and we are especially pleased to be working with RS to incorporate our 3D CAD models on to their website.”
