Deal inked on electronic paper displays

diigDigi-Key has announced a global distribution agreement with E Ink, enabling Digi-Key to offer E-Ink’s segmented displays worldwide.

These electronic paper displays (EPD) boast ultra-low power performance, a small form factor and rugged operation. The reflective display technology used in EPDs means an image can be displayed, even with no power connected. Consequently displays can be incorporated where power and space limitations have made it impossible in the past.

Vice president, global semiconductor product at Digi-Key, Mark Zack, said: “The move towards low-power has become ubiquitous and as the only manufacturer of this technology, E Ink’s products provide unmatched value.”

Director of North American sales at E Ink, Rob Williams, commented: “The combination of Digi-Key’s robust infrastructure and technical resources, along with E Ink’s bi-stable display technology, will be instrumental as we scale this important part of our business.
