Mouser Electronics is now stocking Bosch’s BHI360 programmable inertial measurement unit (IMU) smart sensor. The sensor is an intelligent system designed to deliver best-in-class performance-to-power consumption ratio, while being simple to integrate due to its small size and built-in, ready-to-use software algorithms. The sensor can be customised for applications including wrist wearable devices, head-mounted devices, smartphones and AR/VR/MR headsets.
The product is said to combine a best-in-class gyroscope with an accelerometer enabling full customisation. The integrated sensor fusion library allows 3D audio with head orientation for personalised sound experiences, plus simple gesture recognition.
The programmable IMU features an integrated, low-power custom processor which can run simpler sensor processing algorithms, such as gesture detection or step counting, avoiding waking the central device processor and minimising power consumption. The custom processor helps achieve better power consumption for high-end algorithms.
The device is housed in a 20-pin LGA package measuring 2.5 by 3.0 by 0.95mm.
