Tough capacitors suit harsh environments

Rutronik has added Kemet’s R41B film capacitor series to its product portfolio. The capacitors have voltage ratings of 350VAC and up to 1500VDC and passed 1,000h operation at rated voltage in the accelerated THB test at 85°C and 85 per cent humidity. They suit harsh environments and a halogen-free version is available.

Featuring protection class Y2/X1, these film capacitors are said to be the first to market combining THB class IIIB with high operating temperature and high capacitance value while offering the smallest lead space of 10mm min.

The capacitors are manufactured from metalised polypropylene film coated with self-extinguishing resin and are UL/ENEC/ CQC certified. Capacitance range is 2.2nF to 1.2μF, while temperature capability is up to 125°C. They are AEC-Q200 compliant and intended for use in filters to suppress electromagnetic interference in line-to-ground (Y-capacitor) and cross-the-line (X-capacitor) applications.

Target applications include HVDC filters, 5G SMPS, automotive, DC/ DC and DC/AC converters and solar inverters/energy storage.
