EAO enhances its popular universal switch family with LIN-Bus variants

New LIN-Bus additions to Series 09 family facilitate easy and speedy integration of in-cab operator controls.

EAO, a leading supplier of HMI components & systems to the automotive industry has extended its family of universal switches for interior applications in cars, electric vehicles, buses, trucks and special vehicles. The popular Series 09 now includes variants with the Local Interconnect Network (LIN)-Bus interface. LIN-Bus provides reliable and robust communication between automotive control units to ease and speed integration of interior HMI units and sub-assemblies in modern vehicles and also helps to optimise efficiency and performance.

The new additions to EAO’s Series 09 universal switch family can be connected with a network of up to 16 participants via the integrated LIN-Bus controller. They can also be integrated into an existing communication system with various control devices or combined with other universal switches to form a separate network.

Designed to be both modular and ergonomic, the new Series 09 switches are manufactured in accordance with the IATF16949 automotive quality standard and are available in a wide range of variants and application-specific configurations. Devices with ISO 7000 conforming illuminated graphical symbols are available as standard, or switches can be marked according to specific customer requirements. All Series 09 switches are built with IP5K4 protection against contamination and have excellent haptics and tactile feedback thanks to an appealing, durable surface coating.

Introducing the new products to the UK market Robert Davies, Marketing Manager with EAO Ltd. said that using the LIN-Bus interface to communicate with the rest of the electronics in the vehicle is becoming increasingly popular in modern automotive applications: “LIN-Bus connectivity considerably reduces the wiring effort, which significantly reduces costs. thanks to a daisy-chained LIN signal”. Davies said. “The new switches with LIN interface are also notable for their low power consumption, a particularly relevant advantage in vehicles with a limited power supply”.
