Diving into the data

In this news article, Electronics Sourcing North America summarises some highlights from Edgewater Research’ Electronics Supply Chain Weekly Digest.

S&P reported that manufacturing activity deteriorated in September across the US and the European Union. Flash readings showed the Eurozone manufacturing PMI declined to a 9-month low of 44.8, compared to 45.8 in August, driven by a faster decline in output and new orders, particularly in Germany and France. In the US, S&P reported a September flash manufacturing PMI of 47.0, down from 47.9 in August, marking the lowest level in 15 months, which is primarily driven by a weakening in new orders to a level not seen in 21 months.

In the automotive sector, a new US rule would require GM, Ford to halt imports of cars they build in China; US administration proposes banning Chinese vehicles from US roads with software crackdown; and Toyota global output falls for 7th straight month in August.
