Power solutions for remote locations

Sunpower introduces MEAN WELL’s NTN-5K Series 5 kW true sine wave inverter designed to meet growing demand for high- wattage, reliable energy in off-grid areas.

The NTN-5K Series is an all-in-one unit, integrating AC-DC charging, DC-AC inversion and AC bypass functionalities (when AC voltage is available). It supports energy input from external solar panels and MPPT chargers, providing flexibility for a variety of sustainable and remote applications. Equipped with a built-in AC-DC charger up to 4520W, it enables rapid charging and its scalable design allows for expansion up to 30kW (1+5 units).

For easy installation, the 2U high cabinet-style chassis can fit within a standard 19in rack, ensuring quick setup and integration. The inverter’s single-phase AC output can be combined with other units to create 3Ø4W. Additionally, the monitoring platform (CMU2E, CM2E-R – sold separately) provides real- time system management and diagnostics, enhancing operational oversight.

To ensure long-term durability, the NTN-5K comes equipped with a range of protection features, such as reverse polarity, low voltage warning, overvoltage, short circuit, overload and over-temperature protection. The protective PCB coating guards against dust, moisture and dirt. The built-in Modbus or CAN bus communication facilitates integration with external systems, while remote ON/OFF control adds convenience.

Portable power bank – typical application for NTN-5K

The NTN-5K suits off-grid applications, such as industrial sites, mobile/ outdoor uses and residential/commercial power needs. In industrial operations it can provide continuous power for tools, emergency devices and security equipment in remote locations. Additionally, it delivers reliable energy for mobile setups like vehicles/boats and serves as a backup power source during outages for homes and businesses. In sustainable energy applications, the NTN-5K works in tandem with external solar devices to supply off-grid AC power from renewable sources.
