Investing in distribution capabilities

Mouser Electronics SVP of sales and service, Tom Busher

Mouser Electronics SVP of sales and service, Tom Busher, cites AI, robotics, 5G, IoT, IIoT, EVs and smart technologies as demand drivers for 2025.

Having the widest selection of products from over 1,200 manufacturers has helped buffer Mouser against recent market fluctuations and inflationary pressures and allowed Mouser to grow its customer base to more than 650,000.

Still, no one is completely immune to current industry challenges, including a general oversupply of electronics inventory resulting in 2024’s softer sales. The global economy has endured more than its fair share of tests in the last few years including the global pandemic, supply chain volatility and inflationary pressures. Intensifying geopolitical conflicts add another layer of economic uncertainty. One bright spot is the constant for the electronics space: more products are introduced with electronic content each year and the amount of electronics in many products increases year-over-year.

For 2025, we anticipate solid electronic components business in the transportation and mil/aero sectors. As well, we see demand drivers from all types of technology applications including AI, robotics, 5G, IoT, IIoT, EVs and smart technologies. This should reshape overall design, innovation and consumption.

Industry analysts are predicting the industry will pick up by Q2/Q3 2025. When the market does come back, Mouser is ready. We’ve just completed a major, multi-million dollar expansion at our Global Distribution Center in Texas, essentially allowing us to double our distribution capabilities. We have also invested in additional warehouse automation which helps our team serve customers quickly and efficiently. We look forward to the year ahead, and we know our customers feel the same. Let’s get started on the next generation of new product introductions together.
